What is the best site to go to help determine a career path?
geeqew asked:
I’m getting a second chance on my career. I totally whiffed on the first one and am in a position to pursue education that will help me achieve my dream career. Problem is, I only know that what I’m currently doing is not the long term answer both financially and from a fulfillment standpoint. I know what I enjoy, but not necessarily what I want to do. What is the best career profile site to go to determine my ideal career? I’m willing to pay but not an exorbinant amount.

See if you can take the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator somewhere online. Or the Strong Interest Inventory.

Go to Salary.com. You need to know how much you will make as a starting salary as well as how much you can expect to make as you gain more experience in different career paths. You need to do something that is in demand and something that pays you enough to make a living. I have degrees and experience in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. I am now driving a pole lift in a carpet mill. I would not suggest these 2 majors. The government is lying about there not being enough people and having to import technical people. The American technical people are here and they just don’t want to pay us what we went to school for. Start with doing research in a health care field. That seems to be the safe bet right now.
