What are good jobs for students majoring in anthropology?
Raen asked:
I am a student who is majoring Anthropology and I would like some advice. I am looking for a part-time job, but I want something that would look good on my application when I am ready to apply for a masters program. Any advice about what types of jobs would look good would be greatly appreciated.

Working at a library, at a museum… places that have “history”, but don’t require a completed degree in that specific area to get you in. I could say pathology - but that is one you need specifics for. ariesearthmother65

See if there is a public archaeology program near you, they always need trained folks to rein in enthusiastic armatures. Apogee

You would be surprised what anthropologists do these days. Those Provincial Reconstruction Teams in Iraq were developed in anthropologists in mind. Two of the top international relations and international development professors at my university were anthropologists before they focused on other things.
If you are interested in international relations I would advise you to get an internship as a TA, or if you are in a city where there are think tanks to apply there instead. Also, in the field of international development there is a need for anthropologists as well, and the list of organizations that do this is quite extensive.
I hope this helps! Thorgrim

i would suggest looking into a museum or a zoo for a possible part-time job since they are anthropologically-related. if those are unattainable i would then suggest doing internship work at one of those places or volunteer work. employers like seeing that on a resume. William H
