I was a non-traditional student who is now a few years into my third career - in accounting/finance. My second career was in banking, and I am currently pursuing an MBA in finance. The question could be restated: What is the best career path for an accountant with a solid finance background to have a reasonable chance at assuming the title of Treasurer at a large (+$1 billion sales) company?

I figure if I can swing Treasurer, then I will get to the short list for CFO - who is always on the short list for CEO, the goal for all aspiring business professionals.

Thanks.

What is the difference between a career in Finance and a career in Accounting?

I am thinking about going back to school to get a BS in Business Administration.

I would like to know what the difference is in careers in Finance and Accounting. Has anyone had a career in either field? What I want to know is:

What did you think of your career?

What did you do all day in Finance or Accounting?

Did you find it exciting or really boring?

For a career as a Financial Planner or Financial Advisor, do you work off of commision only?

Any information would be very helpful. Thanks.
