Advertise for free at...That is where I went to find a resume writer.

Also, print business cards (staples has them, 1000 cards fr 19.99) and make sure that your site is printed on there) give these out to any and everyone you meet, send them to friends that live out of state so that they can give them to people as well.

You can contact the Human resources Dept in major firms and offer to send them a hard copy business card or pamphlet (instead of an email) that they can include in the severance packages of terminated employees.

i found my resume writer in the yellow pages. i had my resume done about 2 years ago and the resume writer did a horrible job. the cost for my professional resume was $125.00. when you spend that kind of money you expect a writer to contribute to it not ask you how to write it. they should be well rounded enough to put info in it that makes you look good. i'm sure you'll do better.

prices range from place to place and the services you are offering.

many resume writers offer different versions of resumes as well, for varying costs (standard, point form, eloquant including cover letter etc)

For me, I would pay anywhere from 10-25$ for a nice resume, depending on the quality and how well it was done.

If you are looking to generate business, be sure to visit all of the employment centers and colleges/universities in your area and post ad's where you can. Always go after the people who will need them (students and the unemployed)

As far as advertising online goes, the best technique I have found is to register yourself on AS MANY SEARCH ENGINES as possible. While you may not be top spot on yahoo or altavista or what have you, chances are, there are not many resume writers on the other searches and you can get some hits. Since newer search engines advertise heavily, you can rely on their marketing savvy to push your site.

Barring that, once you have some revenue under your belt, really hit the big time and pay to advertise on monster.ca or workopolis... they have millions of users, many of which are dying for a better resume. :D

I would look on a website like Monster. I did a business plan for this very business about 5 years ago in college. I have some ideas I thought were unique and I would be glad to share them with you if you wish. I found myself in the same boat, that is helping friends and family with resumes, and thought it would be a good business if only for the project I was working on.

I write my own and wouldn't pay anyone to do it for me. I find most resume groups to be horrible at it! If you are good, look at where they get their client base from.
