How long is the average police career?

I want to know how long the average law enforcement or police career is. Not average retirement age or how long you work before you retire. But how long the average individual is in law enforcement before he leaves, since many leave before retirement age.

Depends where you work. New York, LA and other large cities AVERAGE about 17 years because of accidents, shootings and suicides. Most cities average 23-26 years.
