I'm a journalism student myself. It is a great asset that you have such a broad base of knowledge to draw from. All the advice I’ve ever gotten has been to become an expert in something and learn to write about it. It's exactly what you need to set you apart from the crowd. You may need some formal training in journalism, so you can understand things like style and journalism law and ethics. If I were you, I would decide what kind of journalism you would like to do, and then find a writer who does the same thing and contact them for advice. They will likely be happy to help you. Some jobs or careers are done way better if you start at the bottom & work your way up (cliche, I know) but you will certainly know every aspect, and get respect from co-workers.
