How do I present at career day as a homemaker/event manager?

career? asked:

I am presenting to elementary school-age children (K-4th grade) on career day. How do I present being a mother who contracts part time as an event manager? I came up with some similiar points but couldn’t see how to make it fun and get the children involved. I thought I could possibly walk the kindergartners through planning a birthday party, but I thought the older grades might think it was lame. Help!

Grade 4 are still little…so don’t worry about it. Whatever you do they will all love it… they’re getting a break from class!!!

Well, since you are an event planner why not have them help you plan the event (career day)? See if you can get together with each class for some ideas of what they would like to do (refreshments, decorations, etc). Then you can put little signs that state which grade or class thought of the idea. EX: next to a punch bowl: With thanks to Mrs. T’s class for the punch. Or special thanks to the 3rd grade for the cookies. Then when it is time for you to present you can show them the final product, tell the other presenters how the students helped and they will understand. Dont forget to give applause to the students.
