I need some advices here. I like to sing multiple genres so probably if I will be in a band the bassist will have no work to do sometimes.

I have been singing sinceI was little, have been in choirs and musicals since I was 8, and made it into the best choir in my school (which was the grand champion choir at a recent Cedar Point festival).
I live in St. Louis Missouri. Does anyone have ideas how I can jump start my singing career, besides making an album? Please list practical ways I can do this and maybe specific places I could sing at.
