kovhawk asked:
Im about to head to my local recruiting station and I was wondering what the best all around career is in the AF? Im leaning towards as few such as Intelligence or Aircraft Maintenance. I want the chance to travel, be stationed somewhere that somewhat resembles a social life every now and then and have future career possibilites once I’m finished. Any thoughts or suggestions? All our welcome, thanks!

scottklajic asked: I spent 3 years, 9 months and 10 days on active duty (was released 3 months early for graduate school) That gives me on my retirement printout 1371 retirement points.
Then, I joined the guard and received another 164. Total retirement points 1535 for a total 5 “good” years.
However, I also did some correspndence corses which I was told to turn in to the retirement person which shows up on my printout as “ACCP Misc Points” and is added to the “Total Career Points” column–NOT the “Total Points for Retirement Pay” column.
Question–what is the difference between “career points” and “retirement points?” If career points are not calculted for retirement pay, what are they good for?
To the one responder so far–I am sure you know what you are talking about–however, I have no idea what “non-retirement bond” means.

I have a friend who is leaving the army (after 5 years) and wants to enter the police force. How should he write his resume so that it is nice and full? How should it be structured? Is there any place he can find examples of resumes like this? He is an E-5, if that helps.

I had a friend who went to boot camp about 20 years ago and his job involved taking alot of notes and he had said they typically give that job to one of the smaller guys there. Does anyone have an idea what they call that job?
Thanks.

I’m joining the Air Force, but I want to have my job picked out before I go in. The list seems endless! I am married, so I want a job where I can deploy, but not for extended periods. I was looking at logistics, but I was told I would be at bare bases for 8 months at a time. I want something fun, but where I can still see my husband from time to time. I know that we will be separated for at least a little while no matter what, I just want a job with an average deployment schedule! Help!
If you go into a field as “open” then they will just put you where they need you, but if you have a specific job picked out when you swear in, you are guaranteed that job or one of the others on your list.
I scored a 90 on the ASVAB, so I pretty much have my pick of jobs. And yes, I’m going to join, my husband has been in for a year now, so I know what I’m getting myself into, and I know that it will be hard, but it’s something that I have to do to make my life better.
I’m 19 and have been married for a year. Niether of us have any kids, and we live together on base where he is stationed, so it’s NOT really like “I have a family for cripes sakes. ” And I don’t expect to be “catered to or coddled” I expect the same treatment as the guys get. I don’t appreciate people who are telling me not to join, I asked a military-related question and if you don’t have an answer besides telling me not to do a great thing for myself based on your lack of knowledge and experience, then please don’t answer my question at all. Thanks.

When my husband gets out of the Army, what are some good job opportunities he should look into since he won’t have a specific trade or anything.
