Career Clarification: I want to plan events for major entertainment and fashion companies. What career is that?

I’ve heard it’s everything from public relations to event planning to party planning to marketing/advertising to promotions.. I’m so utterly confused. What is the correct career title for planning entertainment and fashion events? And who would I be working for (i.e. advertising under the entertainment company, marketing under a public relations company, under an unassociated company focused on event planning)? Any suggestions or even national job postings would be great.
